Baekhyun of K-pop group EXO apologises for smoking indoors

South Korean singer Baekhyun, a member of the popular K-pop group EXO, has apologised for smoking indoors during a recent trip to Macau. Early this week, the video of the 32-year-old smoking an e-cigarette in a restaurant in Macau went viral.
Under Macau law, individuals are prohibited from bringing in e-cigarettes or vaping products. Macau also prohibits all forms of indoor smoking, unless it’s in designated smoking rooms.
On Monday (Sep 16), Baekhyun’s agency INB100 issued an apology via its social media pages.
The statement read: “We sincerely apologise to everyone who felt uncomfortable with the indoor smoking incident, involving our artiste Baekhyun, currently circulating on the internet. At the time, Baekhyun and our staff were completely unaware that Macau was a place where e-cigarettes were prohibited. While having a meal with the staff after [his] Macau performance, the conversation deepened and Baekhyun unconsciously started using e-cigarettes.
“Baekhyun deeply apologises for disappointing many fans with his careless actions. Baekhyun and our company will be more careful to prevent this from happening again in the future, and we promise that we will not disappoint our fans.”
Baekhyun’s incident comes months after Blackpink member Jennie was filmed vaping indoors. In a now-deleted video, the Solo singer was seen exhaling smoke from a vape pen while getting her hair and makeup done by makeup artists.
